Welcome to Views from the Zone, where Disney fans weigh in on different topics each month. This month, we’re focusing on Disney’s promotional campaign for 2011, Let the Memories Begin.
It’s time to introduce our Cast of Characters.
If you thought the names of the Fab Four are John, Paul, George, and Ringo think again! There’s a new Fab Four around and they can only be found in the Zone. They are DragynAlly, Lori, Rikki, and Tiffany. These ladies are educated, opinionated, invigorated, not to mention notorious in some circles and they’re ready to tell it like is. They don’t sing it, they bring it with Views From the Zone!
If I were a movie critic, I’d give the Let the Memories Begin campaign…
DragynAlly: two thumbs way up! Disney including fans and park-goers into the experience by using their video is a simple way to make the park feel like it belongs to all of us.
Lori: 5 popcorn buckets
Rikki: 4 Stars. It’s not a killer campaign, like the Happiest Celebration on Earth or Year of a Million Dreams…it’s a smaller sized celebration like the Grand Gatherings one. But it still seems like a good campaign…a solid one.
Tiffany: Two ears up!
Is the “Magic, Memories, and You” Castle Show better than expected, what you expected, or didn’t live up to expectations?
DragynAlly: The technology used on the castle make the images pop and it is a feast for the eyes. It is new and exciting so it exceeded my expectations.
Lori: The MM&Y show is way better than I expected. I was concerned the screens were going to ruin the Castle. I can’t wait to see it in person. I hope my picture is up there!
Rikki: Honestly, I thought when I first heard about the “Magic, Memories, and You” show, I thought it was just going to be like a slideshow across the castle. I had no idea how elaborate they were going to get with it. Because of that, the Castle Show more than exceeded my expectations I thought it was fabulous.
Tiffany: Much better than expected and I’ve only seen it on video. I was a huge fan of this idea from the moment Disney made the announcement and it has greatly exceeded my expectations! I can’t wait to see it in person in a few months.
If my family could be in a print or tv ad, we would choose…
DragynAlly: the “What Will You Celebrate?” campaign. I think it turned everyday at Disney into a celebration and a reason to enjoy life. And I think my family embodies this spirit.
Lori: to be part of The Pirates League. Afterall, it is a pirates life for me!
Rikki: I would be happy to be in either. Either one would be pretty awesome.
Tiffany: TV ad. The Disney commercials bring tears to my eyes because there’s so much emotion in them. I would love for my family to be a part of that!
Best place to capture a photo memory in the parks is…
DragnAlly: while you’re on any of the rides! Nothing is better than being caught off guard and then seeing the real, candid emotions in the picture.
Lori: Anywhere Tigger is!!
Rikki: Anywhere. As long as you are capturing memories that you are sharing with your family, just about anywhere would be perfect. That is the most important thing.
Tiffany: in front of Cinderella Castle before the park opens. It might seem cliché, but it really is quintessential Disney.
The memory I want to create with my family at Walt Disney World this year is…
DragynAlly: No family is coming with me to WDW. So my memories will be making family out of new friendships.
Lori: to watching Cassidy observe the animals when we go on the African Trek at Animal Kingdom. She is a big animal lover.
Rikki: Considering my trip this year with my family will mostly be spent on the Disney Dream, the thing I want to take with me more than anything is getting to experience my first cruise with my husband. He’s never been on one and I want to watch as he experiences what it’s like to cruise, especially on a Disney ship.
Tiffany: Wow, this is so difficult to answer because I think all of our Disney memories are amazing. This April, my parents are taking me and my family and my sister (who’s NEVER been). I’m so excited for all of us and know we will make so many wonderful memories together!
My favorite Walt Disney World photograph is…
Because it’s me and my best friend (who is often accused of being my sister) about to eat at Chef Mickey’s.
Lori:
a picture of Cassidy from her first trip. She was 3-1/2 years old and dressed as Cinderella. We went to Chef Mickey’s for breakfast and when she saw Goofy as we were waiting for our table she ran towards him and knocked him down. She’s on top of him and touching his nose. Also like to see if he was real.
Rikki: The one where I got engaged. In the photograph, we were at Chef Mickey’s and I had been blindfolded (they said I was going to receive a surprise) and the picture was taken at the exact moment where I was unblindfolded. The look on my face was absolutely priceless. It was honestly the best moment I’ve ever had at WDW…and I’m so glad that I was able to memorialize that experience in a photograph.
a photo of my daughter with Mickey Mouse during our very first trip to Walt Disney World. The excitement in her eyes is pure magic.
