I think a lot of experienced people on a Disney vacation know that checking out a resort is super important.
But too often I hear from people who tell me they’ve stayed, for example, at Pop Century – only to say they didn’t check it out, but it was a place to stay.
I wanted to emphasize the importance of checking out resorts, and more than just the one you’re staying at – assuming you’re on Disney property for your vacation, that is.
I’ve had the pleasure of staying at Coronado Springs, Caribbean Beach, Pop Century and Animal Kingdom Lodge – and this summer we’re going to be at Wilderness Lodge. Always, always always – take an hour or two if not more – go scout the resort out. From deluxe to value, there is something you’ll find that you’ll enjoy.
Hidden Mickeys are all over Disney resorts! Go on a hunt with family and friends, and bring along Steve Barrett’s Hidden Mickeys Guides to assist you.
Check out relaxing places to sit on a bench and ‘people watch’.
There is so much more to Walt Disney World than the four theme parks and two water parks.
Next time you’re on property, take a bus to one of the resorts – you never know what kind of hidden magic you’ll find!

Chris, you’re so right! My husband used to complain that we don’t spend enough time exploring/relaxing at our resort. I’ve taken to setting aside half or sometimes even an entire day of our vacations to do just that.
