Lori Loves Tigger’s Tip: From Head To Toe

Sometimes traveling with little ones can be crazy in the morning. You’re trying to get them up and dressed and ready to take on the day while they are bouncing off the walls with excitement. You get to the park and they are in a hurry and run off ahead of you. For a brief second, you don’t see them and start to panic. What do you do? You find the closest Cast Member and have them call security. When security comes they are going to ask you what your child was wearing. Do you remember? You were in a hurry this morning to get to rope drop. This is what you do to answer that question….take a picture of your child first thing in the morning, every morning. This helps them know what to look for. The most important part to remember is make sure you take a full picture of them. From head to toe. Make sure you see the shoes and any hat they may be wearing. A security guard once told me that most child abductors are going to change the child’s clothing but NOT their shoes.  If you don’t remember while at the resort make sure you do it once you get to the park. Make a game out of it. Include a character or two. Have them pose in front of the park’s icon.

Another quick tip is if your child carries a little backpack or some type of bag make them an ID card to put in it. Include their name, a recent photo, your resort name and your names and cell phone numbers. That way if the child finds the Cast Member first they have all the information and can contact you right away. I’ve done this everytime we take Cassidy with us. Now that she’s older, I even put one in her wallet in case she would leave it behind at The Emporium.

Great tips! I’ve done the “take a picture first thing in the morning” tip for a long time. I also dress the boys alike as much as possible (not sure how long they’ll let me keep them in matching outfits). Another thing is if we get into a small gift shop that is not crowded, I try to give them a little bit of freedom to look around on their own – especially my older son. The little break of having to be right next to mom or dad seems to help sometimes.
