The Biergarten, located inside the German Pavilion at Epcot is one of my favorite buffets. They have a good combination of German and American food so even the pickiest eater can find something they like. Here are my favorites:
#5 – Potato Dumplings – These are lighter dumplings than some that you find in other European countries like the Czech Republic. These are delicious and great to have especially with the Sauerbraten. If you are wanting to having something traditional go for the Sauerbraten with a side of dumplings and red cabbage.
#4 – Pretzel Rolls – It’s exactly like it sounds, rolls that look like pretzels. They have a nice lightness to them and are less doughy than a pretzel. Looking for something to eat them with? Well, the Cream of Potato and Leek Soup is perfect for dunking them into.
#3 – Cream of Potato and Leek Soup – This soup is one of my favorites because it’s not overly thick and creamy. It has a great flavor. This soup is something that I never skip. I often end up going back for a second bowl it’s so good, especially when top it with the bread crumbs.
#2 – Wiener Schnitzel with Jäger Sauce (Jäger-Schnitzel) – Traditional wiener-schnitzel is made with veal cutlets but at the Biergarten it’s made with a pork cutlet, which has been lightly breaded. I always top mine off with Jäger Sauce (optional of course) which is a burgundy mushroom sauce. It’s a great dish to get whether you get it with the sauce or not.
#1 – Bier – You can not go to the Biergarten and not have a beer… that’s of course, unless you are not old enough to drink. Also, you must order the liter so that you get the big mug and you leave not just full of food but happy too. The beers also make it so much more fun to when the Octoberfest Musikanten play “Prosit!” and you’ll be sure to sing along.
