There’s something about the Disney monorail that just makes me happy. When the The Magical Blogorail caught my eye a few months ago, I knew I had to find out more about this innovative idea. I was thrilled when supermom Beth Doda, creator of the Magical Blogorail and Pursuing the Magic, accepted my invitation to tell WDW Fan Zone readers more. Thanks, Beth!
I was very excited to be asked to share the Magical Blogorail site! I know that WDW Fan Zone’s goal is to bring Disney fans together to share our love of Disney, and that is just we are trying to do. The Magical Blogorail is a site where you can find a community of Disney bloggers whose blog themes range from family blogs to photo blogs to food blogs and many more in between. In addition, some share their experiences from Walt Disney World, some Disneyland and even Disneyland Paris. Though we are a diverse collection of blogs, we all have one thing in common – we love Disney! This gives our readers an opportunity to learn about a lot of Disney topics from several different perspectives. So whether you are planning your first trip to a Disney theme park or a Disney veteran, there is something for everyone.
The idea of the blogorail all began back in November. As a mom of three little ones, I did not have a lot of time to be sitting at the computer reading my favorite Disney blogs. I found when I actually had a moment to use the computer, I wasted a lot of time trying to find my favorite blogs. One day while reading through a craft blog hop, I realized it would be great if I could set up a Disney blog hop. I was very unsure who would think this was a good idea, and it took some convincing myself to put my idea out there. After contacting a couple of people I had connected with on Twitter, I had a small group of bloggers who wanted to participate. I set up our first loop back in November, and it was a big success. So much so, that now instead of just one group of bloggers, we have six groups, with a seventh about to begin just around the corner. What began as a group of seven bloggers coming together once a month has turned into over 30 bloggers coming together in small groups once, sometimes twice, a week.
The Magical Blogorail set up is loosely based on Disney’s monorail system. Each group of bloggers is called a line, and each line is named with a color. Each line is assigned one day per month that they have their loop, and that loop is based on a single topic. The first blogger in the line kicks off the loop with their article, then shares the link to the next blog in the loop and so forth until the readers reach the final stop. At the end of the loop, the reader has read five or six perspectives on one particular Disney topic. One of our most recent loops was Magical Blogorail Red. Their loop topic was the World Showcase Pavilion they could spend the most time in. If you want to see how it all works, you can hop aboard at Hop Aboard Magical Blogorail Red. You will then find the link to the first stop and can follow through all five bloggers’ favorite World Showcase Pavilions.
