I had the amazing opportunity to attend the D23 Expo in California from September 10th to 13th, 2009. It was simply amazing and a totally overwhelming four days because of all the Disney announcements, lectures, merchandise, collectables, movie stars, Disney Legends, and Imagineers. The only words that I can actually use to try to describe it is to call it “Disney Heaven”.
The D23 Expo is in my top two Disney experiences that I have ever had (the other top Disney experience for me was getting on the Walt Disney World Moms Panel along with my Moms Panel Training Trip). I took some amazing pictures during the D23 Expo, especially the photos that I took during an exclusive tour of the Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives with Lou Mongello given by Dave Smith! I wanted to share these exclusive photos of the archive items with you this month, but unfortunatly the hard drive that I had them stored on crashed in November of 2009 and I lost all of these priceless photos. I learned a valuable lesson from that hard drive crash that I want to share with you! The lesson that I learned is….Backup….Backup…and Backup again. Hard drives will fail eventually because of the moving parts. I would recommend that you backup your photos both on a separate hard drive, online in a storage site like dropbox, and on CD or DVD so that your priceless Disney vacation photos and memories will be around for years to come! Here are some photos from the 2009 D23 Expo that I managed to save on another hard drive.
The good news is that I am going to the 2011 D23 Expo, which takes place for three days from August 19th to August 21st, 2011! Hopefully I will have the opportunity to take some photos of this year’s Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives which is double the size of the one in 2009. I am really looking forward to sharing the photos that I take at the 2011 D23 Expo with the readers of the WDW Fan Zone and I promise to back up all my photos.
Until next time—keep taking pictures!
Keep Dreaming Big!
