Whispering Canyon Cafe: A Unique Dining Experience

September 23, 2011

Amongst other things, Walt Disney World is famous for its cuisine and dining experiences. The resorts and parks offer world class
dining options that never fail to disappoint. Aside from the food, some very original dining experiences are offered. One of my favorite dining experiences is Whispering Canyon Café at Wilderness Lodge. It’s a western themed barbeque restaurant and like most restaurants at Walt Disney World, the food is excellent. I know, because I’m not a BBQ fan at all, but I very much enjoyed the food here. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. In my opinion, dinner is the best meal that’s offered and includes entrée options such as Meatloaf, Pot Roast, and Whiskey Maple-Glazed Trout and of course the ever popular Canyon Skillet, which is served family style and includes smoked pork ribs, beef brisket, oven roasted chicken, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob, salad, and much more!

While the food here is delicious and filling, for me, the best part of dining at Whispering Canyon is the ambiance. When you first enter the restaurant, you’re likely to be loudly greeted by a server. When we dined there on my birthday, DD and DH arrived before me because I was still getting ready in our hotel room. When I finally made it downstairs, the server yelled at me from across the restaurant and scolded me for being late to my own birthday dinner! She continued to tease me throughout dinner,  but it was all in good fun and everyone (especially DD and DH) thought it was hilarious. There are pony races for the kiddos and you may even be invited to do the hokey-pokey in front of everyone! Be sure to ask for a large iced tea and don’t expect your waiter or waitress to bring you ketchup! You’ll figure that out soon enough!

Overall, Whispering Canyon Café is a fantastic dining experience. Great food, great atmosphere and most of all, GREAT FUN!  Yeehaw!

Like most table service dining at Walt Disney World, this restaurant is very popular and Advanced Dining Reservations should be made 180 days in advance by booking online or by calling 407-WDW-DINE.
