Main Street Electrical or Spectro?

The two biggest and most popular parades ever to grace the Magic Kingdom in both Walt Disney World and Disneyland, and two very clearly defined groups of followers who love them.. so where do you stand?

Everyone has their favorites when it comes to any and all aspects of Disney, and parades are no exception.  I’ve made it clear that my all time favorite parade was Tapestry of Nations, but its never had competition in the same park.  When it comes to Spectromagic and The Main Street Electrical Parade, many people enjoy both, but usually it seems people clearly love one or the other, and for varying reasons, so here’s where I stand and why!

Main Street Electrical Parade is a technological marvel, and amazing to watch and pays tribute to many things from Disney’s past and has a really awesome, techy and futuristic soundtrack to follow it up and as one of the “originals” its amazing.  If you’ve never seen it, I cannot stress enough that you should make sure to catch it next time when you are in the Magic Kingdom, however, it is NOT my favorite of the two.  It’s not because MSEP isn’t an amazing parade, its simply that I don’t have the emotional attachment to it that I do for Spectromagic.  Please allow me to explain!

My first post for the FanZone was talking about my favorite Disney World Memory , and that will explain the majority of it.  (For the short version, it was the first thing I saw at WDW with my wife and son at WDW two years ago and there’s an amazing story behind it!)  It was also the first parade I saw at Disney when I was a child.  I don’t remember much about that first trip as I was only about 7 or 8, however I clearly remember sitting in Liberty Square, under the rope, and watched Spectromagic, and then remember being carried out of the Magic Kingdom by my father, back to Fort Wilderness.  To be able to have two “first time” memories about the same parade, makes this parade unforgettable and hands down my favorite in the Magic Kingdom.

    I prefer SpectroMagic! Main Street Electrical isn’t connected to as many magical memories (for me!)

    SpectroMagic! I think the opening music and horns are more ‘majestic’.
