Additional Details for Fall 2012 Disney Blu-Ray Releases

In early April, I brought you the initial speculated dates for several upcoming Disney Blu-Ray releases. Now, thanks to Amazon.com and our friends over at Stitch Kingdom, we have the official, confirmed release dates as well as a look into special features for several of those movies.

On August 21, 2012, Disney will bring several of it’s Animated Classics to Blu-Ray for the first time: Pochahontas/Pocahontas II: Journey to a New World; The Rescuers/The Rescuers Down Under; and The Aristocats.

Little is known about the bonus features that will be included with the releases of The Rescuers and the Aristocats, but Disney has noted on their website that Pocahontas will include the following:

  • Blu-ray: Two Feature Films + Bonus
  • Blu-ray: Drawing Inspiration: The Lost Story Of Hiawatha
  • Blu-ray: “Little Hiawatha” Cartoon Short
  • Blu-ray: Deleted Song
  • Blu-ray: The Music Of Pocahontas
  • Blu-ray: Deleted Scenes
  • Blu-ray: Audio Commentary
  • Blu-ray: PLUS Classic DVD Bonus Features
  • DVD Disc 1: The Music of Pocahontas
  • DVD Disc 2: Pocahontas II DVD Storybook

Disney has also revealed that on September 18, 2012, The Great Mouse Detective will be making its Blu-Ray debut.

Bonus features on this release will include:

  • “So You Think You Can Sleuth”
  • The Making of The Great Mouse Detective
  • “The World’s Greatest Criminal Mind” Sing-Along Song

It has been widely publicized that on October 2, 2012, Disney will be releasing the next film in its Diamond Collection, Cinderella. In addition to the DVD and Blu-Ray releases for this film, Disney will also be offering the Cinderella Trilogy in a Limited Edition Jewelry Box Packaging.
