Nowadays almost nothing can be as helpful as a good smartphone app when you are planning your visit and even after you arrive. I’ve put together a collection of some of the most helpful apps I’ve found for a visit to Walt Disney World.
Planning And Park Guide Apps
Disney World Lines – Touring Plans (iPhone and Android)
One of the best apps available for trip and day planning. There is a free version but the paid subscription is worth the price. This app will give you up to date info on the current and expected wait times for all attractions as well as show and parade times. It will also let you see a 10-day guide to what crowd level to expect at each park.
Disney Mobile Magic – Disney | Verizon (iPhone and Android)
Disney’s entry into the Park-visiting app genre. This app is great for planning, and gives good info on attractions, dining and more. The wait times listed at each attraction are also available at a glance using this app. If you have a Verizon phone, you’ll also have additional features, including making ADRs using the app.
Disney World Wait Times / Disney World Wait Times Lite – Phunware | UndercoverTourist.com (iPhone and Android)
Another great app for judging park wait times, this app also includes map overlays of each park.
Park Facts And Info Apps
WDW Trivia – Lou Mongello | WDWRadio (iPhone only)
If you are a fan of Lou Mongello and his podcasts and | or trivia books, this app is a great addition to your collection. You’ll be quizzed on interesting facts at each attraction as you move through the Parks.
Disney World Fun Facts – Magic Mobile (Android only)
A good Android app for viewing fun information on attractions, etc. as you visit the various Parks.
Disney Tracker Plus – Little Buzz (Android only)
Track everything you do as you travel the Parks, including attractions and entertainment. You can even log your parking space. You can attach comments to any of your log entries and have them emailed to you.
WDW DBTN Facts – DBTN | disneybythenumbers.com (iPhone only)
This app comes from the website Disney By The Numb3rs.com. This app is packed with 1000s of WDW facts and is great entertainment while being informational.
Hidden Mickeys: Walt Disney World – Campbell/Gambill Designs | Steven M. Barrett (iPhone only)
If you have ever read Steve Barrett’s Hidden Mickeys books, this app lets you bring the fun along with you. This app uses GPS tracking to show you all of the Hidden Mickeys closest to where you are at any given time.
Walt Disney World Secrets Gold – TimeStream Software (iPhone and Android)
This app takes info on many different ‘secrets’ from the parks and becomes a self-guided tour of those places using your phone.
Apps To Help Pass Time
Jake’s Never Land Pirate School – Disney (iPhone only)
If your child (or you) is a fan of Jake and the Never Land Pirates, this game will give them hours of fun and will help pass some of that time waiting in queues.
Where’s My Water? – Disney (iPhone and Android)
One of Disney’s newest ‘characters’ is Swampy the Alligator. This app provides challenging game-play that will quickly pass the time for anyone wanting an interesting diversion, in the Parks or at home. The newest version is “Where’s My Perry?” featuring Agent P from Phineas and Ferb.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Master of the Seas – Disney (iPhone and Android)
A PotC themed game that allows you to become one of the Pirates as you play through.
The Incredible Machine – Disney (iPhone only)
An interesting physics-based puzzle game. You solve puzzles by building contraptions that accomplish simple objectives. Fun and time-consuming.
Disney Memories – Disney (iPhone and Android)
Choose the perfect Disney-themed frames | Stickers | Decorations for your photos.
Disney Photo A Day – DIS | Keith Kolmos (iPhone only)
From the DIS boards comes this interesting app that shows you an interesting Disney Parks photo every day.
I hope you find a few here that can help you on your next visit.
On a personal note, as my wife and I celebrate the one-year anniversary this month of our move to Florida I want to thank all of you who we’ve met along the way and who have become our friends along the way even if we haven’t met. Thank you all.
