Has anyone seen Injun Joe? I haven’t

Hello everyone. It’s time for me to Tell No Lies and add another attraction to the list of “I have never done”.  This time it’s the turn of Tom Sawyer Island at the Magic Kingdom.

Maybe it’s because when I get to that area of the park I head straight for Big Thunder Mountain and Splash Mountain or maybe it’s the fact you have to get on a raft crammed with people and cross a river to get to it but I have never stepped ashore on Tom Sawyer Island.

Tom Sawyer Island opened to the public on May 20th 1973 and is a playground for kids and adults wanting to be kids again. The island is based on the Mark Twain book “The Adventures Of Tom Sawyer”. To get to the island itself guests have to board a raft in Frontierland. The raft itself can hold up to 70 guests at a time and is piloted by a skipper that tells the story of the island.

Tom Sawyer Island is a kids haven with rope bridges, Caves, playgrounds and lots of places to find adventure. There is also paintbrushes to find on the island which if found can be traded in for a gift in the form of a Fastpass.

Now it’s your turn.

What haven’t you done at Disney World that you really should have?

Anyone that has visited Tom Sawyer Island, is it worth visiting?

Finally went to Tom Sawyer Island on our most recent trip! Definitely worth checking out at least once! We got lost a few times wandering around and exploring! A unique place that very likely would not be built today.

I admit it, Callum, I’ve not yet visited Tom Sawyer Island! My kids were never interested! Perhaps I’ll make it a must-do on our next visit — it certainly is a classic!

We’ve done Tom Sawyer Island, but mainly for the kids. They love it! My knees get too creaky with all the up and down. ;-)
