Phineas & Ferb Pre-Show at Disney Hollywood Studios

With the recent popularity of Phineas and Ferb and Agent P taking over Epcot & World Showcase this summer…I thought I would write a quick article about our MAGICAL experience with them last summer at Disney Hollywood Studios.

August 2011, I visited Walt Disney World with my daughter Kayla and my Mom. This was Kayla’s 1st visit to WDW and I had planned for months to make it as special as possible. While I was planning, I learned that a new meet and greet was coming to DHS…Phineas & Ferb!!! I was beyond excited…this was our new favorite show to watch together on The Disney Channel, and now we would get a chance to meet them on our trip!

The day came that we visited DHS…and I knew we would have to meet “the guys”! I had bought a lot of decorations for that week for our resort window, and the day we went to DHS, I hung up a P & F sign:

I knew to expect some long lines for the meet and greet, since it was a new one, and had warned my mom and Kayla about having to wait, but they were fine with it. I also told them about this cool “pre-show” that the CMs did while people were waiting in line…the whole premise behind the meet and greet is that Phineas and Ferb are filming a new movie, then take some time to meet their fans. Well, in true Hollywood fashion the director of the film is in need of some extras for some scenes! So, the director goes around asking for volunteers…we were near the front of the line and had been chatting with him a few minutes prior, and of course I had Kayla in her new Ferb tee shirt that said “Have you hugged your Platypus today?”, so very quickly she was chosen to play a hula dancer! She was a little nervous, not sure what she had to do, but I reassured her she would have fun so off she went. (Yes, I am THAT Disney fanatic mom to know the tips to get my child involved! LOL)

The director gave some instruction onto what he needed for the shot and what they were all to do. There were about 6-7 people chosen, most being children and one adult to be the Tiki God statue. They spent about 5-8 minutes dancing to music and following the directors calls. When they were done, they were thanked and sent back into the line because it was now time for Phineas and Ferb to take a break from filming and meet their fans! We were given a slip of paper from the Photopass photographer and told if we wanted to purchase any of the shots or add any photos to our “PP” to stop at the camera shop near the entrance!

Within a few minutes we were meeting Phineas and Ferb! It was soo awesome to meet them-we told them we watch their show all the time and are their biggest fans! Then Kayla asked Ferb, “Where’s Perry?” and he looked around and shrugged! SOO cute! When we said goodbye, Phineas decided he wanted to try to climb the “tree”, but his assistant reminded him it wasn’t time to play! It was just so cute!

This is a GREAT meet and greet and even though you may have to wait upwards of 20-40 minutes, having the “pre-show filming” helps to pass the time! It makes everyone laugh and smile and it’s really fun to cheer “actors” on!

Here are some highlights! Enjoy!

I asked Kayla what she thought of this experience, and she had this to say:

“I liked it. It was cool. It was pretty. I was a little nervous, but I had fun.”

On our most recent trip in May of this year, we did not stop for the meet and greet, even though I really wanted too..but we did wave at the boys as we walked by. Hopefully the rumors of Agent P joining the meet and greet will happen soon, then definitely I will be returning to meet him!!

I was happy that she had a chance to be picked and happy that she has that fun memory. I hope it will last with her for many years, because that is what Disney does to us fanatics…makes us remember and enjoy all the fun, good, and special times we have there. There are so many opportunities throughout all the Parks for special moments like this…so if you or someone in your family or group of friends gets a chance…take it! Have fun…you are in the most MAGICAL place in the world!!

See you in the movies…

One Response to Phineas & Ferb Pre-Show at Disney Hollywood Studios

Love that meet and greet, the music and the atmosphere (and the appearing/disappearing Agent P). It’s a shame they’ve cut back on the “filming a movie” piece the past few months and don’t do it quite as often. But even if you don’t do the M&G, just checking it out is worth the quick stop, especially if you’re just leaving MuppetVision. :-)
