The Whispering Canyon Cafe

We always put one new restaurant on our vacation list every time we plan our trip to Walt Disney World. One of the best things about going to Disney World is the dining experience. Disney makes your meals as fun as the parks. Although we plan for a new one, this is one of my family’s tradition each and every time ~ going to the Whispering Canyon Cafe. The restaurant is located at one of our favorite resorts, The Wilderness Lodge and staying there is how we came to find it and love it. Let me give you a little back round about this particular family tradition. And if you can make an ADR for this restaurant do it but, on occasion we have just walked up to check-in desk and waited about an hour, so go and explore this beautiful resort. They have a great big fireplace in the lobby with a Hidden Mickey in it and a great gift shop with many items that have the American Northwest feel to them. A giant totem pole is outside it with Mickey and the gang carved into it..

It hands down has the best BBQ and we always get the all you eat skillet because it’s the best value. It includes ribs, chicken, pulled pork, beef, baked beans and the best salad and cornbread this side of Wyoming. They also have many other delicious foods to select from like steaks, fish and chicken dishes, and deserts too but, we rarely have had the room to finish them, lol.

Another reason it’s great is the kids love everything that is going on in the restaurant. The kids (and adults) really enjoy the funny/goofyness of the Cast Members, they talk loud and throw straws at the guests. Our waiter also built hats for the kids out of giant coffee filters. They also have the kids ride around the restaurant going around the tables on wooden horses. On the way in, if there is a wait for a table they have Lincoln Logs to play with. But the most fun of all is when you ask for Ketchup. The tradition is you get every bottle in the place. Let me explain, you ask your server for ketchup and your server yells across the whole restaurant for the ketchup to be brought to your table and then everyone in place who has a bottle brings it to ya. The kids really love this and it makes for a great funny moment.
