You set your alarm, on the second to last day of summer vacation, to awaken 30 minutes before the 7 am opening of reservations for the newest restaurant in Walt Disney World, Be Our Guest Restaurant. Yes, that was me. Now, it probably does not SEEM like a big deal to awaken at 6:30am, but for me it is, as I am NOT a morning person AT ALL. Getting up early makes me feel physically ill. I look forward to the kids’ summer vacation so that I do not have to awaken early . So to relinquish one of my remaining days of “sleeping in” (as much as you can sleep in with a baby) just to make sure I was on the phone when cast members began taking reservations was not only a HUGE sacrifice on my part, but might just mean I’m a bit of a fan.

You continuously dial the phone for 3 1/2 hours in hopes of scoring a reservation at the aforementioned restaurant. For 3 1/2 hours last Monday morning, I repeatedly hit that redial button on my phone hoping to have my call go through to the dining reservation line. Every ten minutes or so, I would actually dial the number again, just in case “something” went wrong with the redial. I paused only once for a bathroom break, at which time I entrusted my oldest child to continue the dialing. For 3 1/2 hours my repeated attempts were meet with the annoying sound of a busy signal.

You, while trying to get through to make dining reservation are simultaneously checking social media sites to see if any one else has gotten though, made reservations, or if this was just some sick joke to get us all out of bed.
It was actually through Facebook that I was reminded that Disney Vacation Club (DVC) members could book dining reservations directly through member services–WHY couldn’t I have remembered that three hours ago!?! I went ahead and dialed member services and my call immediately was connected (no busy signal!) After a short wait on hold, I was connected with a very helpful cast members (CM) who was able to score me the LAST reservation for 9 during the first week of December.

You are willing to risk taking five children to dinner at 8:40pm, an hour past their normal bed time, 2 1/2 hours past their normal dinner time, and after traveling all day just to dine at the latest restaurant in Walt Disney World. While our reservation time is less than ideal, especially for Baby Girl, we are going to take risk. Our reservations are on December 1 and the restaurant will have been open for 11 days. To be among some of the first guests to dine in this highly anticipated ,movie inspired, ballroom themed restaurant will (hopefully) be worth it.
I am a Disney fan because……
I awakened early, spent 3 1/2 hours redialing the phone, checked social media sites for status updates just to secure a less than idea reservation time for a restaurant that I, not my kids, am excited to see. The early wake up, the calls, running the risk of a disastrous evening with five tired kids is actually because of me! I have been anxiously awaiting the announcement of the opening date for the Be Our Guest Restaurant for months, like a kid waiting for Christmas, hoping it would be open in time for our December trip. Let’s be honest, Walt Disney World can REALLY bring out the kid in all of us. Now to find an adult size Belle dress…..

The exact same thing happened to me! WHY had I not remembered that I could make that dining reservation through DVC Member Services! I’m glad you finally got through!
I will be there with you on the 1st at 845PM!!! I had 3 phones going and was on hold for an hour. I wanted the 6th as that is our anniversary. We were married at WDW and Belle and Beast were at the wedding, but NO LUCK! I am glad I got what I got!!
