So any regular readers of the site will have seen mention in various posts from Mom and I this year about my great big birthday extravaganza this November at Walt Disney World. You see, I turn 35 this November. And I’ve never celebrated a birthday at Disney before and as mom and I were planning out future trips to the World we decided a trip for my birthday was just what we needed. With a November birthday that meant not only doing my birthday there, but also seeing holiday decorations. When I was younger our trips were always in November and December, and we LOVE the holiday decorations. But we haven’t seen Christmas decor at Disney World since I was in college, so we were long overdue.
So, where am I going with this? Since this is an extra special celebratory trip, we are planning some extra special celebratory activities. I thought I’d share our plans and see what extra special things you plan on YOUR celebratory trips!
Special Activity 1 (well 1 and 2!) – We are in Orlando from November 2 thru the 17th (minus a few days for the WDW Radio cruise). This means being in the world for BOTH Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party AND Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. We are doing the Halloween party the first night of our trip, and the Christmas party the last night (which happens to be my actual birthday). We did the Halloween party for the first time back in 2008 and really enjoyed it. But I think I was probably 12 the one time I remember going to the Christmas party. I am so very excited about both these events.
Special Activity 3 – Chef Mickey’s for DINNER. We’ve done Chef Mickey’s for breakfast but never before for dinner. Breakfast was yummy, so I’m very much looking forward to trying it out for dinner.
Special Activity 4 – The Keep Moving Forward Segway Tour at Epcot. We did the Epcot Around the World tour back in 2008, which was our second time on Segways. Although we don’t love that Disney has the Segways set up so you can’t go as fast on them as they are capable of, they are still a blast! This new tour debuted Sept 17 and we’re very excited to get another opportunity to ride a Segway, particularly with this new tour.
Special Activity 5 – Breakfast at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall. In all my years of going to Disney World we’ve never been to Akershus. We debated between doing it for breakfast or dinner, but in the end breakfast just sounded yummy to me. And how can you go wrong dining with princesses?
Special Activity 6 – Lunch at Cinderella’s Royal Table, on my actual birthday. Last time I dined in the castle it was still called King Stefan’s Banquet Hall. According to Wikipedia that name changed back in 1997. So it has been a REALLY long time! So I’m looking forward to revisiting that venue.
I think that rounds out our special activities planned so far! Anything special you and your family do to celebrate a special event at Walt Disney World?
