There’s no shortage of Disney themed shirts and you’re sure to see a ton of them while you’re visiting Disney World. They can be purchased both on and off property as well as making your own if you can’t find what you’re looking for. I’ve made many of my own shirts in the past (no really – it’s not that hard I promise!!) to wear while on vacation. If you’ve got any experience with Paint or Photoshop, you can probably create your own artwork for shirts. Once created, you can print your design onto iron on transfer paper and get to work actually making your shirts. We’ve always gotten lots of compliments on the shirts and I’ve even had people ask where I’ve gotten them from which is flattering. By doing it yourself, it be can as simple or intricate as you’d like and include lots of things specific to your trip and your family. These shirts are pretty quick to make and don’t cost a fortune which is great. (Think your family won’t wear a shirt like that? Consider making a shirt or pillowcase to collect autographs on!)
So you want your family to look adorable but you don’t think you’ve got the time or talent to do it yourself? Sites like etsy.com are a great resource for you to find Disney outfits. There are cute things for little boys, little girls, big boys, big girls, moms and dads! If you’re short on time and can’t wait for one of these adorable creations to be made or you’re looking for something very specific, try checking out your local uniform or alteration shop. Many places will embroider hats, shirts, shorts, blankets, pillowcases, etc. Some will even let you purchase the items and bring them in but you may need to purchase the items directly from the store doing the customizing. There’s even hope for those of you in a place without a store that would customize something for you – some online retailers will also customize items. They may or may not use or create Disney artwork so you’ll need to take that into consideration.
Disney also has you covered if you decide you want to make your own shirt once you’re already on vacation. You just need to visit Design A Tee by Hanes in Downtown Disney. We stopped in this shop on a previous trip and walked through the process of designing a shirt. There are lots of options available and the turnaround time seemed reasonable. Pricing was dependent on your creation. Best of all, there were several Cast Members around to help if you got stuck so you’re not making a shirt you don’t love.
