Hello to the WDW Fanzone Family! I hope everyone is having a good week and finding themselves in happy places! I have several things I was debating on writing about this time, but I have to share with you guys some big news! As of January 2013, I will be moving to Walt Disney World to participate in the Disney College Program! I am beyond thrilled and cannot wait to start this new journey! I am not totally well versed on the Disney College Program (DCP) itself, but I can tell you about my experience. For more information on the program itself, I encourage you or anyone you know who is interested in the program or professional internships, to check out www.disneycollegeprogram.com. There you will find further information both for prospective college students, but family members as well!
I had intended on applying several semesters ago, but decided it would be better to apply for the semester following my graduation. The time finally came this summer and on September 6th of this year, the time came to apply! I applied the following night, took the dreaded (which really was not so bad!) web based interview. I passed! I may or may not have immediately started to cry at that point. I then scheduled my phone interview for September 17th, and then I waited! I was incredibly impatient as I waited – after all, this was a huge dream and opportunity and I am not the most patient person in the world to begin with!
Right before my phone interview, I cried and thought of all the worst-case scenarios that could happen. Luckily, my phone interviewer was super calming and incredibly kind and encouraging. After my phone interview, I simply waited. They told me it would be up to two weeks before I would hear from them. I trolled my e-mail and the dashboard on the DCP website endlessly. Everywhere I looked, people were being accepted right and left and yet I heard nothing. I even had a short trip to Disney in between waiting, and I had hoped as hard as I could that I would find out while in my favorite place. I came home still not knowing any answers.
Then on the morning of October 8th, a month later, I woke up to my e-mail saying “CONGRATULATIONS!” I immediately began to cry and told my parents. I had kept it somewhat quiet that I was interviewing in case I did not get in. But at that point, I could tell the world! So here I am! Waiting once again, (im)patiently for January to roll around! There are a lot of things I am nervous about, but the happiness, curiosity, and excitement greatly outweigh the scared feelings! I will be starting a blog and YouTube channel to keep family and friends updated on my adventures and what is going on with me while I am away, so I will be sure to share that with you guys as well!
