Since late 1991, The Theater of the Stars at Disney’s Hollywood Studios has been home to the Beauty and the Beast Stage Show, and while it is dated, it is still a not to be missed attraction.
The level of production, detail, choreography, and effort that is put into the show is second only to the full Broadway Production (which is a must see if it ever comes to or near your town!), and while it is only 30 minutes long, the performance hits the main points of the story, right on the head, and has numerous musical numbers from the movie. You get the brief overview of how the Beast came to be, followed by Belle singing “Belle” in her small hometown, and then are immediately thrust into the Beast’s Castle and “Be Our Guest”. Other song numbers that you will hear include “Beauty and the Beast”, “Gaston”, “The Mob Song” and “Something There”. Each song roughly breaks down into one major scene of the play, and the ending plays out just like the movie!
If you see a huge line outside of the covered theater, don’t shy away from seeing the show! The place is massive and will seat 1500 people, and the show happens 4-5 times per day, and there are multiple areas for wheelchair seating. The area is also cooled by fans and generally does a great job at taking the edge off the heat!
Personally, this is a show our family always tries to catch at least once a trip. The actors involved are quite good and the effort that is put into the show is appreciated. Overall this is one of the better LIVE performances/stage shows in all of Walt Disney World, and regardless of the age of people in your group, everyone will enjoy this brief retelling of one of Disney’s best animated features!
