Romance In The Air At Walt Disney World

Ready to spend some time with that special someone at Walt Disney World (WDW)?  Here are some ways to enjoy the Romance of Disney.

Outside the Parks

Enjoy a romantic carriage ride through a favorite resort.  Carriage rides are available at Port Orleans Riverside and the Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.  Horse drawn wagon rides are also available at the Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, although not quite as cozy (and no reservations available).  During the Halloween season, enjoy a Haunted Carriage Ride through the woods of Fort Wilderness and along Bay Lake.  And during the Christmas season, you could plan a Sleigh Ride at Fort Wilderness.  Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 407-WDW-PLAY.

You can also enjoy romantic walks through most of the Resorts, even as a visitor.  Many friends have spoken highly even of strolls through Value resorts, so don’t rule those out.  But walks through Port Orleans and along the Boardwalk can be especially nice.  Another pleasant walk is along the beach at the Polynesian while enjoying Wishes.

While at Port Orleans, you can also take the time to experience a quiet, and free, boat ride down the Sassagoula River to Downtown Disney and back.  This is a romantic experience any time but especially in the evening.

Treat yourselves to a couple’s massage at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa.   Have quality time together while quietly relaxing.  And help yourselves to specialty cocktails at one of the many Resort lounges.  If you like some exciting entertainment with your romance, take in a Yehaa Bob show at the River Roost Lounge at the Port Orleans Riverside.  He performs Wednesday through Saturday evenings from 8:30pm until midnight.

Plan some time with your loved one on a specialty fireworks cruise to take in Wishes or Illuminations from a new perspective.

Have an evening of fun at the many locales along the Boardwalk at night.

Meals

Looking to plan a romantic meal?  Here are some ideas.

For an extravagant, elegant experience; plan a dinner at Victoria & Albert’s.  A very romantic atmosphere with quiet music and an air of charm, this is an excellent way (though expensive) to have time to yourselves without the usual noise and bustle of a Disney restaurant.

Plan a later dinner at the California Grill.  You can have a great meal and complement it with a view of the Magic Kingdom and Wishes.  As an FYI, California Grill will be closed from January until June of 2013 for a remodel.

Want something simple?  Grab some coffee and pastries at the Main Street Bakery and then find a quiet spot to people watch and enjoy your simple breakfast together.

At Epcot, romance can be in the air at Le Cellier and Bistro de Paris where a quieter, mood-lighted atmosphere awaits.  And it’s always early evening at the San Angel Inn inside the Mexico Pavilion.

In The Parks

Looking for romance in the Parks?  It certainly is there.

Enjoy a stroll through the Magic Kingdom’s Rose Garden or the many gardens that abound World Showcase at Epcot.

Snuggle together and enjoy a round-trip ride on the Magic Kingdom Railroad.

Experience a thrill on Big Thunder Mountain while your love slides next to you on the sharp turns.

Hold your loved one close on a trip through Pirates of the Caribbean or the Haunted Mansion.

Soar together over London and Neverland on Peter Pan’s Flight.

And a quiet trip around Tomorrowland together on the TTA is always nice to share with your love.

Travel through time side-by-side on Spaceship Earth.

Enjoy the romance of Hollywood on the Great Movie Ride.

Share the Disney romance during a showing of Beauty and the Beast Live.

Wander the hidden trails of Animal Kingdom.

Share a sit-down together on the rocking chairs at the Hall of Presidents.

And just slow down and enjoy the Magic of every resort as you take your time walking, talking and taking in all of the sights and sounds of Disney magic.

Proposals

So now you’re ready to take that big step and propose to your love.  WDW provides many different and magical ways to make that special proposal.

Take a ride on the soon to re-open Characters in Flight balloon at Downtown Disney and propose high in the sky while overlooking all of the WDW areas.

Work with a Dream Maker at the Disney Florist (407-WDW-GIFT) to plan your proposal with a glass slipper and tiara.  This works very well combined with a carriage ride.  Dream Makers can help you plan a romantic, memorable proposal anywhere at WDW, including a private experience in your resort room.

You can propose on the Grand Staircase at the Grand Floridian.  With the live band playing, this will be a moment to remember.

Pop the question in a private niche at the Rose Garden in front of Cinderella Castle; truly magical.

Prepare a Royal Engagement at Cinderella’s Royal Table.  This is a full-on Disney Princess proposal experience and will require planning and reservations.  You provide the ring, and Disney provides a glass slipper etched with rose petals. Disney photographers will capture your moment and Cinderella can join you for a photo.  This meal includes appetizers, entrées and two non-alcoholic drinks in Champagne flutes.  Dessert is a Chocolate Slipper Royal Dessert; a white chocolate slipper filled with chocolate mousse on angel food cake with fresh berries.  For reservations, call 407-824-4477.

And finally, once you’re engaged, how about a WDW Wedding and/or Honeymoon?  Let Disney help with that too through Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons.  Visit http://disneyweddings.disney.go.com for more information.

Enjoy your Romance!

In May of 2012 we had the pleasure of witnessing a proposal in front of Cinderella’s castle during the fireworks. The young prince charming got down on one knee and proposed to his princess with thousands of people watching. It was so wonderful. Everyone cheered and congratulated them. I felt honoured to be there and it still brings tears to my eyes. What a magical moment in the most magical place in the world.
