If you are anything like I am, the idea of going to a water park gives you an uneasy feeling. I know there will be people of all shapes and sizes there. Yet, all I can think of is the wiggle in my step. That is why the next in our series is the Disney water parks; Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon.
I had a terrible time finding any information online about the parks weight restrictions. This was incredibly frustrating. So I decided to call the Disney Hotline. The cast member explained the only restriction is a weight limit for the Gondola at Blizzard Beach. She said it was 375 pounds per lift. The cast member mentioned all guests should be “ in good health” to ride the slides. She continued to explained the only concern is ” bottoming out at the start”. This means being so heavy the tube rests on the slide floor instead of floating on top of the water. This is easily solved with a little push from a cast member, and you are on your way. So no big concerns there.
Another issue you will find is the lounge chairs. They tend to be low to the ground. You might have some concerns getting in and out of them. This probably won’t be your most graceful performance of the day.
The stairs. There are a lot of them at the water parks. Walking up so many steps can be exhausting for anyone. Especially for people of size. Just be prepared if you plan to do a lot of slides, you will be walking up stairs all day. It will be one long Step-Aerobics class.
My absolute favorite part of the water parks is the lazy rivers. Remember both rivers go all the way around their worlds. If you find there is too much waking, hop a ride on the river to get where you are going. Or, if you are like me, just ride it all day. Oh how I love these water highways.
All in all, the water parks are very size friendly. The restrictions and limitations are small. So whip out your best bathing suit, and strut your stuff.
Next in the series; The Magic Kingdom!
