It has finally happened. After years of wishing and dreaming (and begging my husband), I’m thrilled to say that I’m registered to take part in my first runDisney event!!!! And of course, you have to go big or go home. To celebrate my 30th birthday, which actually takes place the weekend of the race, I’ll be running the Wine & Dine Lumiere’s Challenge! For those who are not familiar with this race, it’s a new challenge series. The Wine & Dine half marathon takes place in early November. This year they have added a 10k race as well as a 5k, kids races, and the half marathon. Lumiere’s Challenge consists of running the 10k on Saturday and then the half marathon on Sunday. Sound crazy? It is! I love a good challenge, as does my husband, so we had to go for it. Through in my birthday, and it’s a guaranteed fun filled weekend.
I’ve always wanted to run in a runDisney event. Disney pulls out all the stops for their races, and they are always highly talked about. Yes, they are a bit pricey, but then again it is Disney. You get awesome race bling, the actual race itself throughout the different parks, and plenty of entertainment along the course. Their events bring out all sorts of characters for awesome photo opportunities. They even start each corral with a blast of fireworks! How many races can you say offer that?!
This race used to be held at night, which made it even more unique, but sadly it is now a morning race, just like all of their other races. I’m still excited to run it and experience what should be an awesome event. Disney also offers several other races throughout the year and also at Disneyland in California. If you’re a runner and have ever considered trying a runDisney race, you should just do it! I’m looking forward to my first runDisney experience. I am running the 10k race with my husband and a young friend, who is 13 years old. I’ll then be running the half marathon with just my husband. I even signed my daughter up, who will be 18 months at the time of the race, to “run” the kids 1 mile race. I will be there with her obviously, and I’m really looking forward to sharing this with her. She even gets her own finishers shirt and medal! How cute is that! This will be her first “race” ever, and where better than to do it at Disney!
I cannot wait until November! Until then, I have a lot of training to do! See ya guys later!
