Wishes basicHave you ever wondered why the beautiful pictures that other people take looks so much better then those snapshots you took on your last vacation? Many times, the simple answer is: photo editing.

There are several free photo editors available online. Do a quick search and see if you can find an easy one to monkey around with. The picture above didn’t start out framed and square with my signature in the corner. It was a simple picture taken with a Canon EOS Rebel T3 placed on a tripod with a remote trigger. By playing around for about 15 minutes with cropping, contrast, brightness, exposure, add a simple border and a signature in the corner and you get a picture that tells a story.

Bath plain 2_9Bathing 2_6Any picture can tell a story. Take, for example, this elephant bathing shot. Unfortunately, someone’s  head got in the bottom right corner. Rather then throwing that picture out, add a little frost and the head magically fades into the background. The Jungle cruise is an original 1971 attraction. If you’d prefer to make it look like you were there snapping it on opening day, add this Polaroid frame and, with a little dirt and fade, the photo looks 45 years old.Bath Time_2_7

Just to give you a little idea, the pictures for this article took about an hour to edit. Some may take longer depending on the feel your looking for. So, get out there and play around with those pictures. Before long, you’ll have enough to fill an entire coffee table photo-book.
