Jan 2016 Beach Club Villas and runDisney Fun.

Darlene and I have been friends – meeting on twitter -for about 5 years but we felt like family almost immediately. I remember driving home after dropping my first son at college, I was crying my eyes out and who calls me but Darlene? So, we met about Disney but soon learned that we are a lot alike. We had been talking about meeting in Disney for a long time. Until one day, I had a great idea. Lets go to Disney for a runDisney race!!!! and she said yes!!!!  It was her first runDisney race!!!

So I booked a few days at Beach Club Villas (which I’ve never stayed at) and a few days at SSR. In this blog I am just going to talk about the Beach Club and a little about runDisney. My oldest son could also join us because he was between semesters. It was really fun experiencing WDW with a friend.

I really liked staying at the Beach Club VIllas. We checked in January 5th, the holiday decorations were still up and the Resort smelled DEVINE. Like gingerbread. 😉

We stayed in a Studio which I don’t often stay in but it was plenty big for three adults.

I usually use our DVC points to stay in a 1br because I like to have a full fridge and  a washer/dryer in the unit which a Studio doesn’t have.   My oldest said the pullout was plenty comfortable and he would sleep on the pullout again.

The Walkway to DHS.  Look at TOT!!!!

We liked staying at the Beach Club Villas because of the ease of getting to Epcot and the walkways to DHS.  It made it so convenient and fun to get to those parks.   I usually rent a car now – yes I know – everyone knows I’m spoiled – to get to the other parks and evening ADRs.   I have to say the Valet Cast Members at the Beach Club are the nicest on property – they truly spoiled us.    I am really sorry I didn’t write their names down.  The grounds of the resort are also so beautiful.

Staying at the Beach Club was also convenient for runDisney races.    I have driven to other races but we decided to take the bus for the 5K and had no issue.  In January, every resort is a runDisney Host resort which means there is bus service from them – be sure to check if you are running in a different runDisney race which resorts are Hosts if you want to take the bus.   We had a great time at the race.  The 5k is a great 1st time race for someone beginning to run.  The runDisney races have an atmosphere that is very supportive to everyone.  You will see all levels of runners supporting each other.   Darlene said she had a great time.  Its really fun to run through Epcot when no one is there.  I have run a total of 4 runDisney races – two 5K: the Princess and Marathon Weekend and two Wine and Dine Half Marathons – I love the night race so I am one who is sad that the W&D won’t be at night any more.   I have signed up to the Glass Slipper Challenge in February (a 10K one day and the 1/2 Marathon the next) – but still consider myself a novice runner.     I am also planning to do my Coast to Coast Medal this year running in May at Disneyland – stay tuned.

runDisney Selfie – awesome view of the park while running!!!

After the race, we booked an ADR at Cape May – now my favorite breakfast buffet (I am not a big buffet fan – its the RN in me – story for another day.)

Goofy sleeping with DS#1 – not only good food but great character interaction at Cape May Breakfast.

The only thing we didn’t get to enjoy due to the weather in January was the pool – I would like to return sometime and enjoy it – but don’t worry we had enough fun ;).      While we were there,  the Osborne Lights were in their last days so we got to enjoy them – I will really miss them.

We also ate at Captain’s Grille for lunch and  thought it was phenomenal. (sorry no pictures)   I had one of the tastiest salad’s for lunch I’ve ever had.  I would definitely eat there again.  DS#1 and Darlene agreed they also liked their meals.    In whole, I love the whole BWV and BCV resort area even though they are not my home resorts (maybe some day – hint hint DH).   It was a phenomenal trip and can’t wait to visit my home away from home soon!!!

Thanks to Darlene for her picture of the inside of the Beach Club Studio and for being such a great friend.
