Fishing at WDW

8lb Bass – Look at that view #heaven

Our last trip in October, I surprised DH with a Fishing Excursion. I had originally planned for him to fish from the Polynesian on the morning that we were moving there on our Split Stay (BWV to Poly DVC). But the hurricane put a wrench in my plans – again. I realized that the day I booked for him was going to probably be cancelled.  So, I went to BWV concierge and rebooked it to go out of the Yacht Club. It took a little bit to change it but the CM was so helpful doing it.

DH said, it was really worth it. He had so much fun.   I booked for him the Guided Bass Fishing Excursion for 4 hours 7am -11.  The cost was $455 but we received a DVC discount and paid $364 plus I gave the guide a tip.  The boat can take up to 5 people.    You are not allowed to bring food on but they do have drinks and all the fishing equipment for you.  It is catch and release – so you can’t keep them.

We were told to show up at the Yacht Club boat dock about 10 minutes prior.   We were there at 6:45 – DH hates to be late.  Our guide was there at 10 minutes of.  His name was Rick and DH said he knew exactly where the fish were and plus he had a great sense of humor.

Being on Crescent Lake, they did fish some into Epcot but also around the Boardwalk/Yacht and Beach Club resorts.    I did my run that morning around the area so I was able to see them and watch some of the fishing from afar – Rick said I was stalking them – bahaha.

DH said he definitely wants to do this with our boys.  He said it was worth the money.    We fish every summer/spring on Cape Cod and around New England.  He is not a novice fisherman and he still had a great time but if you don’t know anything about fishing and want to take your kids fishing – they will catch fish.  He caught over 30 fish – Disney Magic.  😉
