It is hard to believe but my first and second post was in Feb and March 2013 respectively, and Princess Half Marathon was the subject matter. The reason this is hard to believe is I just completed my 5th Princess Half Marathon.
Back in March 2013 I wrote a post about being swept during the Princess Half Marathon. RunDisney requires runners to keep a 16 minute mile pace during the races. If they do not they most likely will be “swept.” Basically this means the runners are not allowed to finish, and are driven to the finish line. Back in 2013 I was 40 pounds heavier, and not well trained to run a 1/2 marathon.
While being swept was definitely not something I would want to experience again-I do think of it positively which I wrote about. My feelings were that I made it to Mile 8, and instead of being sad about not making it the whole way, I would think about how far I did make it.
I look at that picture, and it is hard to believe that we are now in 2017. I am still writing for WDW Fan Zone, and still running.
The best part is I have come a long way since Princess Half Marathon 2013. At the recent Princess Half Marathon I finished with a personal best time for myself. I had no fears of being swept. And I was still standing and smiling when I finished!
I hope to do a follow up when I run my 10th Princess Half Marathon-it is crazy to think about what will happen between then and now!
