Another surprise to me – Spice Road Table

As many of you know, my last trip in February was part solo trip.  One of my solo days, I went to Epcot by myself.  My goal for the day was to get DH a beer mug – the one souvenir he requested .  Because I wasn’t at Rope Drop I was there around 10:00 am, I paid for preferred parking – I wanted to see how close I could get.  It was $20 dollars because I have an AP or DVC – it is normally $40 I was told by the Cast Member.  I was literally a two minute walk to the entrance – to me it was worth it.   My friends on a certain podcast WDW Main Street laughed at me because I didn’t want to walk too far but I was there for Princess weekend – Gotta save my energy for The Princess Glass Slipper challenge – right?  When I parked, there was a family of 5 with very small children, strollers, multiple bags, etc.  I looked at the Dad and he looked at me – I said “this is worth it” and he said “definitely”.

Anyway, I walked around Future World and World Showcase and look who I met.  Certain people in my family – not DH though- wouldn’t have let me stand in line for Mary.  I found her in England in the back garden.  This is one benefit to going solo – you can explore what you want to.

I explored a lot of World Showcase and saw things I’ve never seen before.  Around 12:30, I  was getting hungry and wanted to sit down somewhere.  I poked in my head into Spice Road Table and I was able to get a table sitting outside – without an ADR.  What a beautiful restaurant.   This was my view for lunch.  #heaven

I ordered a glass of wine (I am on vacation)which my waiter suggested and the Spicy Garlic Shrimp.  I asked the waiter how spicy it was that I liked it very spicy.  So, he put in my order with extra spice.  It was delicious!!!

I was sitting on the water and enjoying my day.  As I was looking around, I noticed a couple having the lamb sliders.  They also looked yummy but the portion size was too big for just me.  I think it came with three sliders and hummus fries.  I mentioned to the waiter that it looked good but it was too big for just me.  He then proceeded to ask the chef to make me a smaller portion – for $4.99 – I really thought this was a bargain.  For those of you that are picky eaters, there are many choices on the menu.

The cast member that took care of me was phenomenal.  He knew just when to come to the table, he didn’t make me feel uncomfortable that I was by myself and basically catered the meal to me.  I felt spoiled – who doesn’t love that?  I did give him a cast member shoutout.  And just so you know, you can walk up to the bar at Spice Road Table and get a drink to go. It is not usually too busy at the bar.  Spice Road Table was such a hit that afternoon that I have already booked an ADR for me and DH on our next trip to watch Illuminations.  The food is phenomenal, the service was great, it has a full bar menu and the view of the Lagoon is beautiful – it was a big surprise to me.  Try it sometime.
