Bar None

Walt Disney World does not have to be a vacation destination for families.  There are lots of things to do on an “adults only” trip that rival some of the best “adults only” destinations.  This is the first in a series of posts that will help the 21 and over crowd have fun at Disney Parks.

Lately, it seems that Disney Parks are purposely including comfortable locations for travelers to enjoy “libations.”  Once upon a time, you had to plan carefully to ensure you stopped at a location serving drinks.  Now they seem to be popping up everywhere!  There is still a limited amount of alcoholic beverages available at the Magic Kingdom; I’m not sure that will ever change much.  Outside of that, here are my favorite bars/lounges where drinks run a plenty on Disney Property.

#3 Jock Lindsay’s Hangar Bar, Disney Springs

Anything Goes!
Hangar Bar

I love Jock Lindsay’s because of its location in Disney Springs.  From the outdoor seating area, you can people watch, see the Amphicars, and enjoy the live entertainment on the stage area below.  The tapas menu is good and the drinks are excellent.  This bar gets high marks because of the outdoor seating, amazing views and the feeling that Indiana Jones could walk in at any moment.  The attention to detail in the decor is amazing. Be sure you check out some of the unique seating inside.  The nooks and crannies contain some really cool movie related “Easter eggs.”  Disney Dining Plan is not accepted, but if you’ve got Tables in Wonderland, you can save a few bucks on Anything Goes or Hovito Mojito, my favorite drinks!

#2 La Cava Del Tequila, Epcot
It isn’t easy to find a collection of tequila like the one at La Cava Del Tequila in the Mexico Pavilion at Epcot.  There are about 70 different varieties available!  Get there early, the line to get into La Cava travels back into the pavilion and up the stairs near the entrance well before time to open.  Be careful, there is so much worth trying on the menu that your bar tab can grow quickly here, especially since they don’t accept the Disney Dining Plan, Tables in Wonderland or offer Passholder discounts.  The Blood Orange, Cucumber and Jalapeno Margaritas are my favorites.  Plan for multiple visits to have the opportunity to taste and see everything, because unfortunately I cannot find any of the pictures from my last visit.

Charcuterie Board

#1 Nomad Lounge, Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Boto-Rita

This place is beautiful!  In addition to the amazing views of Pandora from the balcony, Nomad Lounge sits next to one of newest restaurants on property, serving up Signature Dining experiences, Tiffins.  The high level of service, hand crafted cocktails, upscale bar cuisine, and electrical outlets at the bar let you quench your thirst, have a snack and charge your phone in opulence.  The menu features cuisine with Asian and African influences.  During my last visit, I had the charcuterie board, fish tacos, and the Boto-Rita.  Since the opening of Pandora, I’m certain the wait time has gone up dramatically since my last visit, even though this place is much roomier than others.  Nomad Lounge is not on the Disney Dining Plan, but they do accept Tables in Wonderland and offer Passholder’s a 20% discount.  This place is not to be missed.  In my opinion it is the best place to have a drink on property, bar none.
