I’ve been visiting Walt Disney World on a continuous basis since 1984, yet had never dined at Coral Reef (opened 1986) until my recent visit in April 2017. I realized then what I had been missing out on this whole time!
My Mom and I were spending a Mother/Daughter weekend together in late April. After a long day of nibbling around the World Showcase during the Flower and Garden Festival, Mom said she wanted an actual meal. Since I’m the Disney “guru” in the family, this set me into a tailspin because I thought, how on earth am I going to get a reservation now?! It’s 6PM!
Luckily, I was able to grab a reservation at 7:45PM at Coral Reef. Having never been before, I was very excited to try a new restaurant. I was so wonderfully surprised. We sat right next to the aquarium and were entertained all throughout our meal by the fish, sea turtles, sting rays and sharks.
When our meals came, I was so pleased with the presentation. I had the seared Redfish with etoufee, dirty rice, and crawfish slaw. My Mom had the pan-seared Verlasso Salmon with seasonal risotto, baby greens, and Pinot Noir reduction. We both had a nice glass of red wine to pair with our meals.
I do have to say that considering this was a last minute decision to dine at the Coral Reef, it was probably one of the most delicious meals I’ve had on property. The fish and vegetables were very fresh, the service was great, and we had plenty to keep us busy watching the aquatic life while we dined.
The Coral Reef restaurant will be closed from 8/27/2017 – 8/30/2017 for a short refurbishment. If you do have the opportunity to dine here, I highly recommend it! I do not think you will be disappointed.
