Marvel Universe Live! Age of Heroes is the latest version of the popular touring show. Produced by Feld Entertainment, this show debuted in July, 2017 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and will continue touring the US and Canada through early 2019.
This show features more Marvel Heroes and Villains than I can possibly name. Loki is up to his usual tricks, this time convincing Nebula and Yondu to steal the Wand of Watoomb, an ancient artifact that will provide him with enough power to crown himself ruler of the Earth and Asgard. Standing in his way are the combined forces of Dr. Strange, Wasp, Spiderman, Black Panther, Iron Fist, The Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy. They travel across the Earth beyond, even battling the Chitauri inside a volcano.
The story feels a bit campy and is definitely aimed at the 10 and under crowd, but the show is so entertaining, it’s easy to overlook this. The cast includes many talented acrobats, motorcycle stunt riders and aerialists. There are lasers, pyrotechnics, lots of fight sequences and fire dancers. For me, it was fun to see how the production team brought less humanoid characters like Rocket and Groot to life.
I highly recommend this show to all fans of the Marvel Universe. Arrive early to check out the ample merchandise and have your face painted like your favorite hero.
