Meet Mary Tomkins

About Mary
I’m a college student currently living in the Nashville, Tennessee area. I’m also a makeup artist. I find that I am to the point that I am simply working (at a job I love) just to save up for the next Disney adventure. I don’t think I really need to say it, BUT I will just in case, I’m a huge Disney nut. I find Disney in almost everything I do, sometimes to the annoyance of my friends and family.

How I Became Hooked on Disney
I was fortunate and grew up with Disney loving parents. My mom grew up going to both Disneyland and Walt Disney World, and my father went a lot as well. Naturally, when I came along, the efforts continued! From almost all my pets having Disney names, to collecting movies and stuffed animals, to the trips themselves, Disney has always found a way into our lives. In the past year and a half however, my love for Disney has reached another level, or the obsessed level as some call it.

Favorite Disney Memory
I really can’t choose. My family has been called the Griswold’s by total strangers, so you can imagine the stories I have! From videos of my brother and I fighting in a stroller, to begging to see Captain EO in the late 1980s, to solo trips, I have a lot. I think my favorite memory is a recurring one though and that’s walking into the Magic Kingdom and coming under the railway each time. I always tear up and there is NOTHING that tops that feeling! My favorite non-park memory however, is wearing out VHS tapes of all the Disney movies. Possibly more worn out than the animated features, were the Sing-Along-Songs. I used to take over our living room and record myself with the camcorder singing, dancing, and pretending to be whichever character popped up on the tv screen!

Favorite Park: EPCOT.
Favorite Attraction: Journey Into Imagination (yes, the original, but I like the new one, too!).
Favorite Resort: Wilderness Lodge.
Favorite Restaurant: It’s a toss up! I LOVE LOVE LOVE Crystal Palace at breakfast, but I am also torn between San Angel Inn and Via Napoli.
Favorite Character: Figment.
